Ms. Carnahan, 3rd Grade Educational Assistant

Welcome! I am proud to call MLA my home.  This will be my third year working as an Educational Assistant.  I have worked in first grade, second grade, and now this year I will be in third grade.  My job is to support students in small group settings and one-on-one to help them understand and apply principles taught by the classroom teacher.  I truly love my job and enjoy seeing each students' growth in their education throughout the school year.  

 

Before I began working for MLA I was a parent volunteer for 5 years.  I fell in love with the school immediately and was very impressed by the staff, community, and flexibility in learning styles tailored to each student.  I realized very quickly that this was a special and unique learning environment where each student is treated as an individual.  Not everyone learns in the same way and that is something MLA recognizes.  

 

When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with my two sons who are fellow Meerkats.  I also have a great love for the outdoors.  Snowboarding is my passion along with hiking, camping and traveling.  I have a hard time sitting still and relaxing, so I am usually off on some sort of adventure.  I am a huge lover of all animals, especially dogs.
