Mrs. Monzo, School Secretary

Welcome to MLA! If we haven’t met yet, allow me to introduce myself.

I work in the office at MLA Elementary as School Secretary. My tasks include cleaning recess scrapes and taking care of student health, writing the school newsletter [the Meerkat Messenger], scheduling field trips, ordering school meals, helping parents with payments and paperwork, supporting the staff, and the occasional removal of a stubborn/annoying loose tooth; of course there is more but those are some of the highlights.

I began working for MLA in 2015. I had been a frequent volunteer and, when my youngest was able to attend, then transitioned to working for the school as a recess and lunch room aid. I love my work, and watching my students grow both physically and mentally. I believe kids are like sponges - ready to take in all they can, they just need the right person to support them and find the right path of absorption for them.

For my students, I am the funny and geeky office lady. I love talking about science, science fiction, super heroes, movie quotes, punny jokes, books, and even math. I often have riddles and puzzles to solve for small rewards or PBIS points. I also provide a word of the week - if you can find a way to use it properly that week, not only will you make me smile but I’ll probably give a reward for that too (I’m a little bit of a softy when it comes to demonstrating brain power).

I look forward to assisting you and your student through your years here at MLA Elementary, and having you join our school family.
